President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to visit his home district of Thakurgaon on September 6 for a two-day official tour, marking his first formal visit to the district since assuming office.
The president’s arrival has sparked enthusiasm across Thakurgaon, with extensive preparations underway.
Major roads, intersections and government offices are being cleaned, renovated and decorated as part of the reception arrangements.
According to the tentative schedule, President Alamgir will attend a large civic reception at 3pm on September 6 at the main field of Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School.
Dr Abu Mohammad Khairul Kabir, convener of the civic reception committee, said the president is expected to arrive in Thakurgaon by helicopter.
After receiving a guard of honour at the district circuit house, he will visit the Senua graveyard to offer prayers at his father’s grave. He is then expected to spend some time at his family residence before joining the civic reception.
On the second day, September 7, the president is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University at the Jamalpur area along the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road.
