Two killed in Bogura as unknown vehicle runs over them

Two people were killed and another seriously injured after an unidentified vehicle struck them while they were repairing a disabled truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Sherpur upazila of Bogura on Tuesday night.

The accident occurred around 11:30pm in the Mahipur area.

The deceased were identified as Mamun Hossain, 40, and Hanzala, 35, both from the Islampur Harigari area of Bogura Sadar upazila.

According to Fire Service officials, a Dhaka-bound truck carrying timber had broken down in Mahipur. Three people were repairing the vehicle when an unidentified vehicle hit them from behind and fled the scene.

The impact left all three injured. Fire Service personnel rescued them and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two dead. The third victim remains in critical condition.

Nurul Islam, an officer at the Sherpur Fire Service Station, confirmed the incident, saying police were working to identify the vehicle involved in the crash.
