Three more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while 1,106 new infections have been reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In a press release issued on Monday (July 6), the Directorate General of Health Services said all three deaths were classified as suspected measles-related fatalities.
Of the 1,106 children identified with measles during the reporting period, 159 were confirmed cases, while 947 were classified as suspected infections.
Since March 15, a total of 106,565 suspected measles cases and 12,632 laboratory-confirmed infections have been recorded nationwide.
During the same period, 89,734 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 86,062 have been discharged.
The DGHS said the cumulative death toll since March 15 has reached 741 children, including 93 confirmed measles deaths and 648 suspected fatalities.
Among the country’s administrative divisions, Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of measles cases and deaths, followed by Rajshahi Division, Chattogram Division, Khulna Division, Barishal Division, Rangpur Division, Mymensingh Division and Sylhet Division.
