A court has granted five days’ remand to a motorcyclist arrested for allegedly attempting to enter the security cordon designated for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at an event in Farmgate, Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order on Monday (September 7) after a hearing.
Earlier, Sub-Inspector Asadur Rahman, investigating officer of Tejgaon Police Station, produced the accused, Muhibullah Mubin, before the court and sought seven days’ remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Advocate Shamsuddoha Sumon represented the state and argued in favour of the remand. Defence lawyers sought cancellation of the remand and bail for the accused.
After hearing both sides, the court granted five days’ remand.
According to police, the incident took place around 4pm on Saturday (September 5), shortly after the prime minister entered the event venue.
