Tani Laila, the only daughter of legendary South Asian singer Runa Laila, has expressed deep anger over the spread of false reports and AI-generated content claiming that her mother has died or is seriously ill.

Currently staying in the United States with her family, Tani condemned the misinformation in a social media post, saying Runa Laila is alive, healthy and doing well.

She said fake photos and videos generated using artificial intelligence are being circulated on YouTube and Facebook simply to make money. Spreading false reports about the death of an artist who has spent six decades in music and earned the love of millions is deeply disrespectful and distressing for her family and well-wishers, Tani said.

She categorically stated that her mother is completely healthy and is neither seriously ill nor facing any danger to her life.

Tani also warned that strict legal and cyber-legal action would be taken against those responsible for creating and spreading such false content and against the YouTube accounts involved. She urged fans and members of the public to report the links containing the misinformation.

She also requested media professionals to verify information thoroughly before publishing any report concerning Runa Laila.

Runa Laila has recently remained active professionally, performing at several concerts. Last month, she performed solo concerts in two Australian states, as well as at a special event organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and several major stage shows.
