US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman at Army Headquarters on Monday.
A delegation led by Ambassador Christensen met the army chief and exchanged greetings during the meeting, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
They discussed the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States, as well as ways to maintain and strengthen existing defence and military cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Christensen highlighted Bangladesh’s important contributions to international peace and security.
He also praised the professionalism, discipline and operational capabilities demonstrated by members of the Bangladesh Special Forces during Exercise Tiger Lightning, conducted with the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), the release said.
