Eight more people have died of dengue across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, raising the country’s dengue death toll this year to 209.
Another 1,782 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
Dhaka South City Corporation and Khulna Division each reported three deaths, while Dhaka North City Corporation and Mymensingh Division recorded one death each.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions with 371, followed by Chattogram with 288 and Khulna with 286.
From January 1 to September 24, Dhaka Division, including the two city corporations, accounted for 100 of the 209 dengue deaths. Khulna reported 37 deaths, Chattogram 21, Mymensingh 20, Barishal 16, Rajshahi 10, Rangpur four and Sylhet one.
