The government will support technology-based enterprises to create skilled jobs and expand technology services in Bangladesh, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Planning Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said.
“The government will review tax policies, investment plans and the role of government institutions to this end,” he said at the Bangladesh-Silicon Valley Technology Dialogue at Stanford University in California on Sunday.
The dialogue, organised by Bangladesh’s Consulate General in Los Angeles, brought together technology experts, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and expatriate Bangladeshis to discuss AI, semiconductors, research, skills and investment.
Titumir called for identifying quickly implementable projects, responsible institutions and follow-up actions to turn the discussions into concrete outcomes.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam stressed stronger links with Bangladeshi technology professionals abroad and the US research and innovation ecosystem.
Adviser Rehan Asif Asad said the government was committed to linking research, education, startups and industries to turn Bangladesh’s technology talent into innovation, investment and skilled employment.
The delegation also included State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj. Participants discussed AI applications, semiconductor development, skills training, research partnerships and investment opportunities.
