Yemen’s Houthi movement has threatened to attack three key sites in Saudi Arabia, urging civilians and employees to immediately evacuate the areas amid escalating tensions with the Saudi-led coalition.
The group identified the potential targets as Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dammam, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and the Aramco refinery in the Saudi capital, according to its military spokesperson Yahya Saree.
Saree warned that any Saudi attack on Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, would be met with a “harsh and painful” response targeting Riyadh.
The Houthis also declared Saudi oil facilities legitimate military targets and called on workers, engineers and civilians to stay away from the sites to avoid casualties.
The threats came after the Saudi-led coalition ordered civilians to evacuate the Yemen Petroleum Company’s Al-Sabahah central fuel station in Sanaa ahead of a planned military operation.
The latest developments mark a further escalation in hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, following a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi territory, including airports and oil infrastructure.
