The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the subject-wise syllabus for the 51st special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
The syllabus was published on the PSC website on Wednesday.
According to the notice, there will be no preliminary examination for the 51st special BCS. The written examination, in multiple-choice question (MCQ) format, is likely to be held in November 2026.
The 200-mark written test will consist of 200 questions, with one mark for each correct answer. However, 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
The written examination will cover Bangla (20 marks), English (20), Bangladesh affairs (20), international affairs (20), mental ability (10), mathematical reasoning (10), and 100 marks on subjects related to the relevant cadre and, where applicable, the post.
As it is a special BCS examination, the written test will be held only at centres in Dhaka.
The government plans to recruit 5,000 doctors through the special BCS under the health cadre. Of them, 4,700 will be appointed as assistant surgeons or medical officers, while the remaining 300 will be appointed as dental surgeons.
According to PSC sources, the selection process for the special BCS has been designed to be relatively streamlined. The authorities aim to complete the recruitment process quickly and post the 5,000 newly recruited doctors at government hospitals at the upazila and union levels.
The PSC said the exact date and time of the written examination will be announced later through its website and the media.
