Barrister Gias Uddin Rimon has been appointed as a special assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, with the rank of secretary, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday.
He will serve as the prime minister’s special assistant for the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry and the Primary and Mass Education Ministry.
The appointment is contractual and will remain effective from the date of joining until the end of the prime minister’s tenure or until the prime minister’s satisfaction, whichever comes earlier.
The notification said Rimon must relinquish any other profession, business or employment with any government, semi-government or private organisation.
Other terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined through the contract, the notification added.
