Md Sajid Hasan has been elected president and Miftahul Jannat Rifat general secretary of the Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) for the 2026-27 term.
The election to the executive committee of the university’s central debating organisation was held on Monday.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr SM Shameem Reza announced the results at around 8:00pm on Monay in the presence of Assistant Election Commissioners Zubayer Hossain and Ragib Anjum, Election Secretary Md Sabbir Hossain and Election Observer Mohiuddin Mujahid Mahi.
The newly elected committee will formally assume office for a one-year term.
Sajid Hasan, a student of the 2020-21 session in the Department of Islamic History and Culture, previously served as general secretary of Surja Sen Bitarkadhara and vice president of the Department of Islamic Studies Debating Club.
Miftahul Jannat Rifat, a student of the 2020-21 session in the Department of Marketing, currently serves as general secretary of the Athenium Debate Forum at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall. She is also the general secretary of the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall Students’ Union.
The Dhaka University Debating Society is one of the country’s leading debating organisations, playing a key role in promoting debate, public speaking and critical thinking among students.
