Fire erupts at Riyadh airport after fresh attack

A fire broke out at Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday after an unidentified projectile struck the facility, according to the Saudi-led coalition.

Saudi air defences also intercepted a cruise missile near the airport, Reuters reported.

The latest attack came a day after a missile strike at the airport killed 12 people, including two Bangladeshis, and injured more than 300 others.

Airport operations remain suspended following the attacks.

The responsibility for Sunday’s latest strike has not been immediately established.

The incidents come amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

The Houthis have warned airlines and travellers against using Saudi airports, threatening further attacks.

The repeated strikes have raised concerns over regional security and disruptions to air travel.
