Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Sunday warned airlines, airport workers and travellers against using Saudi Arabian airports and airspace, saying they were vulnerable to attacks.
The warning came a day after a missile strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others, according to Saudi authorities.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said Saudi airports and airspace had become operational targets, with the exception of airports in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
The group urged airlines and passengers to take the warning seriously, holding Saudi Arabia responsible for any failure to intercept incoming attacks.
The latest warning comes amid escalating fighting between the Iran-backed Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces.
The Riyadh airport attack has disrupted flights and raised concerns over aviation safety in the region.
