Dr Bärbel Kofler, parliamentary state secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is arriving in Dhaka on Sunday (October 25) for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany.

According to a press release issued by the German Embassy on Saturday evening, Kofler will lead a delegation from the BMZ.

The discussions will take place as Bangladesh undergoes economic transformation and prepares for its graduation from the least developed country (LDC) category. The talks will focus on long-term resilience, economic adaptability and sustainable growth.

Germany, a longstanding development partner of Bangladesh, aims to strengthen the bilateral partnership through the discussions.

As Bangladesh prepares to graduate from the LDC category and faces evolving development needs, the talks will also explore new areas of cooperation beyond traditional assistance frameworks.

During her visit, Kofler will participate in political dialogue and visit development projects in Chattogram.

In Dhaka, she will also attend a celebration of German Reunification Day at the German Embassy.

Senior officials from Bangladesh and Germany, civil society representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, and figures from cultural and media circles are expected to attend the event.
