The National Citizen Party (NCP) has dissolved the existing committee of its women’s wing, Jatiya Nari Shakti, and announced a new three-member convening committee, directing it to form a full-fledged committee within 15 days.

Under the new arrangement, reserved-seat lawmaker Mahmuda Alam Mitu has been appointed convener, while another reserved-seat MP, Nusrat Tabassum, has been named member secretary. Monjila Jhuma has been appointed chief organiser.

The party announced the changes on Sunday in a statement, saying the decision was taken under the directives of NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossen.

The new committee has been instructed to complete the formation of a full committee within the next 15 days.

The previous 53-member committee was announced on April 18, with NCP Joint Convener Monira Sharmin serving as convener and Mahmuda Alam Mitu as member secretary. Nusrat Tabassum was then appointed chief organiser.

The latest reshuffle places Mitu at the head of the organisation, with Nusrat moving to the member secretary post. Monira Sharmin, who led the previous committee, is no longer included in the three-member convening panel.

Jatiya Nari Shakti is an associate organisation of the NCP focused on women’s participation in politics and related issues.
