PIROJPUR: The sister of freedom fighter Manik Pashari has described late Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayeedi as a “saint of Allah,” saying she does not know why her brother testified against Sayeedi in a crimes against humanity case.
Manik Pashari’s sister Hena Pashari made the remark on Sunday (October 25) while talking to journalists at their home in Chitolia village under Shankarpasha Union in Pirojpur Sadar upazila.
Asked about her elder brother’s role as a witness, Hena said she had been at her in-laws’ home in Khulna at the time and had not contacted her brother about the matter since then. She added that they had never asked him about it.
Asked where they were when their homes were set on fire after August 5, she said they were nearby.
Regarding Manik Pashari’s testimony against Sayeedi, Hena said, “He (Sayeedi) was a saint of Allah. My elder brother knows why he did what he did, and Allah knows. We know nothing about it. It would be better not to ask us about this.”
Meanwhile, Manik Pashari’s younger brother, Chan Mia Pashari, has claimed that Manik testified against Sayeedi in the crimes against humanity case in exchange for money.
A video interview with Chan Pashari has already gone viral on social media. Masud Sayeedi, a Jamaat-e-Islami MP from the Pirojpur-1 constituency, was the first to post the interview on Facebook.
The MP also described Manik Pashari as a fake freedom fighter, claiming that he had been included on the list of freedom fighters because he testified against Sayeedi.
