Authorities are planning heightened security measures for Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in Delhi, with 1,500 to 2,000 private security personnel likely to be deployed and traffic restrictions proposed within a 500- to 700-metre radius of the venue.

According to India Today, the concert is scheduled to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, marking the start of Dosanjh’s ‘Aura’ tour in India.

Although organisers initially planned to deploy around 400 private security guards, officials have recommended increasing the number in view of the singer’s popularity and the expected crowd. A final decision will be made after discussions with the organisers.

Authorities are also considering traffic restrictions within 500 to 700 metres of the stadium. Access to certain areas may be limited to vehicles carrying the artist and other authorised personnel.

The stadium can accommodate around 55,000 spectators. Organisers have reportedly been instructed to increase the number of entry and exit points to manage the expected crowd more effectively.

Plans are also being considered to extend the stage ramp to bring the singer closer to the audience. However, the proposal has yet to be finalised and will depend on a security review and the necessary approvals.

The heightened security measures come amid reports of a threat targeting another Dosanjh concert scheduled for November 27 in Mumbai.

According to reports, a threatening email was sent to the Mumbai mayor, warning of an attack on the concert and a bomb explosion at ‘Jalsa’, the residence of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. The identity of the person behind the threat remains unknown.

Following the reported threat, police have stepped up precautions ahead of the Delhi concert. The agency involved in ticket sales has also reportedly been alerted.

Dosanjh spent much of the year touring Europe and the United States as part of his ‘Aura’ tour. He is now preparing to bring the show to audiences in India.

The additional security arrangements have sparked speculation among fans on social media that the Delhi concert could be postponed. However, no official announcement confirming a postponement has been made.
