The “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP) on Monday claimed the government has reached out for talks for the first time amid escalating protests in New Delhi, as thousands gathered for a planned march to Parliament.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said he and fellow leader Ashutosh Ranka were on their way to meet senior BJP leader and Union minister JP Nadda following what he described as a morning outreach by the government.

“The government has reached out for talks. Our demands are clear, and the youth has turned out in huge numbers,” Das said, adding that the group remains open to dialogue. However, there has been no official confirmation from the government regarding the claimed contact.

The development comes amid mounting pressure on authorities over the ongoing hunger strike led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and growing nationwide protests against alleged examination irregularities and repeated paper leaks.

Tensions escalated at Jantar Mantar, where clashes broke out between demonstrators and police, with reports of baton charges as protesters attempted to push past barricades during the “Chalo Sansad” march.

Earlier, Das said the organisation was willing to engage in dialogue despite the delay. “They have come very late, but we are ready to talk. The ball is in their court,” he said.

If confirmed, the outreach would mark the first formal communication from the government since protests intensified, with demonstrators demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and sweeping reforms to India’s examination system.
