A Dhaka court on Thursday set August 30 as the deadline for police to submit the investigation report in the murder case over the death of celebrated Bangladeshi film actor Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana fixed the new date after the investigating officer of Ramna Model Police Station failed to submit the report on the scheduled day.
The case has drawn renewed public attention following a court order in 2025 directing police to investigate Salman Shah’s 1996 death as a murder, overturning the earlier treatment of the incident as an unnatural death.
The fresh investigation names 11 accused, including the actor’s former wife, Samira Haque.
Salman Shah, one of Bangladesh’s most popular film stars of the 1990s, was found dead at his residence in Dhaka’s Eskaton area on September 6, 1996.
Over the years, multiple investigations by different agencies concluded that the actor died by suicide, findings consistently challenged by his family, who have maintained that he was murdered.
