Two people were killed and another injured after a speedboat collided head-on with a steel bulkhead in Brahmanbaria’s Nasirnagar upazila on Monday night.
The accident occurred around 10pm near Khagalia village in Volakut union on the Bemalia River, according to police and local sources.
The deceased were identified as Dayal Mia, 20, of Chatlapar village in Nasirnagar, and Sajib Mia, 22, of Bararchar village in Kishoreganj’s Kuliarchar upazila.
The speedboat was returning towards Chatlapar after taking an ailing patient to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex when it collided with the bulkhead coming from the opposite direction.
Three people on the speedboat were seriously injured in the crash.
Local residents rescued them and took them to the health complex, where doctors declared Dayal and Sajib dead. The third injured person received primary treatment.
Police said they have launched an investigation into the accident.
