A microbus carrying Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Amir Allama Shah Mohibullah Babunagari was damaged after being hit by a bus in Feni on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 11am in the Baraiyarhat area on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.

However, Babunagari and none of his companions were injured.

According to Hefazat sources, the microbus was travelling from Chattogram to Noakhali when a Dhaka-bound bus hit it from behind. The rear glass of the Hiace microbus was shattered and its back was damaged.

Following the accident, Babunagari continued his journey to attend a pre-scheduled programme in another vehicle.

Feni district Hefazat secretary Maulana Omar Faruk said, “Although the vehicle’s glass was broken in the collision, the Hefazat amir and his companions are all safe and well.”

Highway Police said the bus involved in the accident was seized. Its owner was fined Tk45,000. No casualties were reported.

Hefazat leader and Khelafat Majlis Feni district assistant secretary Maulana Aziz Ullah Ahmadi said Babunagari later sought prayers from people across the country for his continued good health and long life.
