Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured after a bus crashed into vehicles in Trishal of Mymensingh on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30am in the Kazi Shimla area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.

The identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately. The two deceased are believed to have been passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

Police and locals said a United Paribahan bus travelling from Dhaka first hit a stationary Mahindra vehicle in the Kazi Shimla area and then crashed into a passenger-carrying CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Both vehicles were badly damaged.

The bus lost control and overturned by the roadside, leaving at least 10 people from the three vehicles injured.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared two people dead. The seriously injured were later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Trishal police station Officer-in-Charge Mansur Ahmed said police recovered the bodies and the injured were receiving treatment at the hospital.

The bus was seized, but its driver and helper fled the scene. Legal action is being taken, the OC said.
