Four lawmakers of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have complained of prolonged delays in receiving their tagged containers carrying Zamzam water after arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Madinah.
The lawmakers are Md Rashedul Islam Rashed of Sherpur-1, Mohammad Kamal Hossain of Dhaka-5, Salahuddin Ayoubi of Gazipur-4 and Jahangir Hossain of Khulna-2.
According to their written complaint addressed to Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ managing director, flight BG338 arrived in Dhaka from Madinah at 8:55am on Thursday, October 1. However, most of the passengers were still waiting for their tagged Zamzam water containers even three hours after the flight landed.
The four Jamaat MPs alleged in the complaint that most passengers on the flight, including 34 opposition lawmakers, had not received their tagged containers carrying Zamzam water even after three hours of their arrival.
They said the prolonged delay caused considerable inconvenience and harassment to passengers, while no satisfactory explanation was provided or effective steps taken to resolve the matter promptly.
The lawmakers also alleged negligence of duty and called on the airline authorities to take immediate measures to ensure that passengers received their tagged Zamzam water containers without further delay.
The complaint was submitted on behalf of the passengers of the flight, according to Mohammad Kamal Hossain, who later posted a photograph of the complaint on his verified Facebook page.

In the post, Kamal Hossain said the four MPs had lodged the complaint with the airline authorities on behalf of ordinary passengers over alleged harassment, failure to properly hand over their belongings and negligence of duty.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has received the written complaint, according to airline sources.
The airline authorities have subsequently issued show-cause notices to the officials concerned, asking them to explain the incident within four working days, according to the complaint-related developments reported on Thursday.
The incident has drawn attention to the handling and timely delivery of Zamzam water containers for passengers returning from Saudi Arabia, particularly those travelling on Umrah flights.
BG338 is a scheduled Biman service operating between Madinah and Dhaka.
