The Cabinet Division has issued directives urging maximum caution and responsibility when utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in government official operations. Concurrently, it called for strict adherence to existing laws, regulations, and government directives to ensure the security of sensitive and confidential government data.
A letter issued by the E-Governance-2 branch of the Cabinet Division on July 28 was dispatched to all Senior Secretaries and Secretaries. Time& Calendars
The letter stated that the use of AI tools in various official activities within government departments is steadily increasing. While these technologies enhance work speed, efficiency, and productivity, careless usage carries a significant risk of unauthorized disclosure or third-party leakage of sensitive government information.
Against this backdrop, all relevant personnel are requested to exercise utmost caution and responsibility to ensure data security and confidentiality while using AI tools for official tasks. It emphasized that existing laws, regulations, and government instructions must be strictly followed to preserve information privacy while enjoying technological benefits.
Signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Cabinet Division Sheikh Zobayer Ahmed, the letter stressed that the government’s objective is to ensure the positive application of artificial intelligence while maintaining data security. All relevant ministries, divisions, and departments have been directed to take necessary precautions to achieve this goal.
