Four new PSC members take oath

Four newly appointed members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) took oath on Tuesday.

Chief Justice administered the oath at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court at around 4:30pm.

Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui conducted the oath-taking ceremony. Judges of the Appellate Division and PSC members were present at the ceremony.

The government appointed the four new PSC members on August 6. They are Md Nazrul Islam, Mohammad Ali, Dr Md Ferdous Hossain and Yasmin Gafur.

According to the appointment notification, the President appointed them as PSC members under the powers vested in him by the Constitution. They will serve for five years from the date of joining or until they reach the age of 65, whichever comes earlier.

Other terms and conditions of their appointments will be determined in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

With the appointment of the four new members, the PSC now has 21 members, including its chairman.
