The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 508 people during its routine anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours, while filing 50 cases.
Police also recovered various narcotics, a sharp knife, 14 mobile phones, one victim and cash during the operations.
A total of 50 cases were filed in connection with the drives.
The information was disclosed on Sunday by Niaz Mehdi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division.
He said 52 people were arrested from the Ramna Division, 23 from Lalbagh, 32 from Wari, 48 from Motijheel, 68 from Tejgaon, 95 from Mirpur, 53 from Gulshan and 137 from Uttara.
Police recovered 1.26 kg of cannabis, 381 Yaba tablets, 8 grams of heroin, 12 bottles of foreign liquor, two Rangcha papers, two corks, a sharp knife, six sacks of various Indian homeopathic medicines, 14 mobile phones, one victim, and Tk 22,120 in cash during the arrests.
The DMP said the arrests and recoveries were made during operations carried out by its crime and detective units across different police station areas in the capital.
Legal action against the arrestees is underway.
