Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office as the President of Bangladesh.
The Japanese prime minister conveyed the message through a letter from her office, extending congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Japan.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your assumption of office as the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh,” the message said.
The Japanese premier noted that Japan and Bangladesh have developed a strong friendship since Bangladesh gained independence in 1971. As a reliable friend, Japan has consistently supported Bangladesh’s nation-building and development efforts, she said.
Japan also expressed its commitment to working closely with Bangladesh to further strengthen bilateral relations and advance the vision of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
The Japanese prime minister wished Bangladesh greater prosperity and President Mirza Fakhrul good health and success in his new responsibilities.
