The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh has urged Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia to avoid taking the law into their own hands when dealing with suspected criminal activities.

In a notice issued on Monday, the embassy advised Bangladeshis to immediately report any suspected crime or criminal activity to Saudi law enforcement authorities instead of attempting to detain or assault suspects.

The embassy also urged expatriates to contact the emergency hotlines 999 or 911 if necessary.

It warned that, under Saudi law, unlawfully detaining or physically assaulting a person—even if they are suspected of a crime—is a serious criminal offence.

The embassy called on all Bangladeshi nationals in Saudi Arabia to follow local laws, remain vigilant and exercise the highest level of caution in such situations.
