Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury will visit Thailand and Malaysia later this month and in October, according to a notification issued by the Law Ministry.
He will travel to Thailand on September 28 and stay there until October 2. He will then visit Malaysia from October 5 to October 14.
During his absence, the senior-most judge of the Appellate Division, Justice Md Rezaul Haque, will perform the duties of the chief justice.
According to the notification, Justice Haque will continue to discharge the duties until Chief Justice Chowdhury resumes his functions.
The president has approved the arrangement under Article 97 of the Constitution, the notification said.
