The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has assigned 54 officials to inspect hospitals and monitor healthcare services across the country, aiming to improve service quality, maintain administrative discipline and ensure better public healthcare.

The Health Services Division issued a notification on 30 September, which took immediate effect.

The officials have been assigned to oversee medical colleges, specialised hospitals, general hospitals, and district- and upazila-level hospitals. The assigned officials include additional secretaries, joint secretaries and deputy secretaries, with some given responsibility for hospitals outside their primary areas of assignment.

They have been instructed to coordinate with hospital authorities and take necessary measures concerning manpower, cleanliness, medical equipment, infrastructure, security and overall management.

The officials will also regularly monitor the digital attendance of doctors and health workers and submit attendance data and reports to the relevant authorities.

They have been directed to coordinate with deputy commissioners, civil surgeons, upazila nirbahi officers and upazila health and family planning officers to ensure progress in vaccination programmes, infectious disease prevention and public awareness activities.

They will also support public health programmes covering maternal and child health, geriatric care and nutrition, and encourage hospitals to adopt innovative measures to improve healthcare services.
