Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed the administration to stand firmly by the people in tackling the ongoing disaster, according to his adviser and Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson, Dr Mahdi Amin.
Speaking at the first reunion of alumni of Government Bangla College on Friday, Dr Amin said the prime minister had directed officials at all levels to remain beside those affected by the disaster.
He also said BNP leaders and activists had been instructed to support flood victims across the country.
“The government is working to meet people’s expectations,” Dr Amin said, adding that the administration and all relevant state agencies were delivering relief assistance to those affected.
He also urged everyone to cooperate with the elected government in rebuilding the country based on humanitarian values.
