State Minister Shama Obaed to visit Spain, UK from Oct 26–30

DHAKA: Foreign Affairs State Minister Shama Obaed Islam will pay official visits to Spain and the United Kingdom from October 26 to 30.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed the information in a press release on Sunday (October 25).

According to the ministry, the visits are significant for deepening economic partnerships and promoting cultural diplomacy, two key pillars of Bangladesh’s foreign policy.

During the visits, Shama Obaed will meet senior officials from various departments to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, business, tourism, skills development and cultural exchange.

At the start of her tour, the state minister will inaugurate the Third Spain-Bangladesh Expo 2026 in Seville, Spain, on October 26.

Organised by the Spain-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the theme “Stronger Partnership, Shared Prosperity”, the expo aims to connect Bangladeshi exporters with Spanish manufacturers, importers and investors.

After completing her visit to Spain, Shama Obaed will travel to the United Kingdom from October 29 to 30.

Her engagements in the UK will focus on promoting Bangladesh’s industries and culture, expanding international cultural partnerships and exploring opportunities to develop the country’s creative economy.

The visits reflect Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy with European partners, attracting investment and expanding cultural cooperation.
