DHAKA: The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices by Tk3,324 per bhori, following an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market.
With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk224,182 per bhori, including VAT.
The new prices came into effect at 1:45pm on Wednesday (November 4). BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on Monday (November 2).
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk214,092 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will be priced at Tk183,882. The price of traditional-method gold has been set at Tk150,232 per bhori.
BAJUS said the price of locally sourced pure gold (tejabi gold) had increased, prompting the association to revise gold prices after considering the overall market situation.
According to a BAJUS notice, making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewellery. Since VAT is included in the selling prices of gold and silver ornaments, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers.
So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 132 times in the country. Prices have been raised 64 times and reduced 67 times, while one adjustment involved VAT.
In 2025, the association revised gold prices 93 times, raising them on 64 occasions and lowering them 29 times.
