A police officer was injured after activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly hurled cocktail bombs during a motorcycle procession in Dhaka.

The incident reportedly took place in the capital’s Kuril area, where a group of BCL activists brought out a sudden motorcycle rally and threw crude bombs.

The attackers fled the scene after noticing the presence of police, leaving behind a motorcycle and a festoon, which were later seized by law enforcers.

Police recovered two exploded cocktail shells from the spot. Legal action is being taken in connection with the incident.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over security following a series of sporadic rallies and crude bomb explosions involving activists of the banned organisation.
