Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will continue as scheduled across the country, except in five districts under the Chattogram Education Board.
The decision was announced in a notice issued on Sunday evening by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, signed by its president and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, Professor Akhtaruzzaman.
According to the notice, HSC and equivalent examinations under the Dhaka, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Jashore, Sylhet, Barishal, Dinajpur and Mymensingh education boards will be held as per the existing schedule. Examinations under the Madrasa Education Board and the Technical Education Board will also continue nationwide, except in the five districts under the Chattogram Education Board.
The committee said examinations scheduled for July 13, 15 and 16 under the Chattogram Education Board, as well as the Madrasa and Technical Education Boards in the five affected districts of the Chattogram division, will remain suspended until further notice.
No HSC or equivalent examinations were scheduled for Sunday. On Monday, candidates are due to sit for the first papers of Physics, Accounting and Logic. Additional examinations are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week.
On Saturday, the Chattogram Education Board suspended all HSC and equivalent examinations until July 16 due to continuous heavy rainfall and flooding in the region.
Earlier on Sunday, Education Adviser A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said the government was monitoring the overall weather situation, including heavy rainfall in Dhaka and other parts of the country, before deciding whether Monday’s examinations would proceed.
He said the decision would be taken after reviewing reports from deputy commissioners, education board chairmen and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
