The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has issued a public alert in Bangladesh over a rise in fraudulent schemes misusing its name and logo to offer fake loans in exchange for fees.
In a press release, ADB clarified that it does not provide loans or financial assistance directly to individuals, nor does it request personal financial details or payments through mobile banking or any other channel.
Recent reports show that scammers are creating fake websites, Facebook pages, and identities impersonating ADB and its officials. These fraudsters are using the bank’s branding to deceive people and solicit money under false promises of financial support.
ADB urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid responding to such offers. Anyone approached by individuals claiming to provide ADB loans or financial assistance is advised to report the matter to the relevant authorities.
As a long-standing development partner of Bangladesh, ADB works with the government and private sector to finance development projects through transparent and official channels. It stressed that any individual claiming to represent ADB in offering personal loans is acting fraudulently.
