Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmad left Dhaka on Thursday morning for Iran to attend the funeral prayers of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a press release, the Speaker departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:30am for Iran to represent Bangladesh at the funeral.
Ayatollah Khamenei, who was born on April 19, 1939, in Mashhad, died on February 28, 2026, at the age of 86.
