City Bank has launched a new credit card offering cashback, airport lounge access and other benefits aimed at customers seeking greater value on travel, shopping and everyday spending.
The City Bank American Express Ultramarine Credit Card was unveiled at the bank’s head office in Dhaka on Wednesday. Customers will be able to apply for the card from October 1.
City Bank Chairman Hossain Khaled, along with Kurush Dastur, Director of Global Network Services for South Asia and French Territories at American Express Banking Corp, and Punit Mathur, Senior Manager of Network Partnerships for South Asia, launched the card.
New cardholders can choose one of several welcome benefits, including up to Tk10,000 in cashback, equivalent to 5% of eligible spending during the first three months after activation, or a Tk5,000 travel luggage voucher.
For travellers, the card offers complimentary access to City Bank American Express international and domestic lounges at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for the cardholder and up to two guests.
Cardholders will also receive up to 12 complimentary visits a year to selected Priority Pass lounges worldwide. The 12 visits can be shared between the cardholder and guests, with each lounge entry counted as one visit.
The card also offers zero cash withdrawal fees at international ATMs. At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the primary cardholder can receive a meet-and-greet service with up to two guests.
Other travel benefits include savings on international air tickets and domestic hotel bookings, as well as travel insurance and baggage benefits when purchasing international tickets through Go Zayaan.
Cardholders will earn three Membership Rewards points for every Tk100 or $1 spent. The points can be redeemed for gift vouchers, annual fee waivers and purchases by combining points with cash.
The card also offers a “buy one, get one free” buffet dining benefit at selected international hotel chains in Bangladesh on weekends. Additional dining, shopping, lifestyle and travel offers will be available through American Express.
At the launch, City Bank Chairman Hossain Khaled said the bank focuses on providing financial services and solutions tailored to customers’ changing needs.
“Alongside international transaction facilities, the new Ultramarine credit card offers a range of travel and lifestyle benefits,” he said.
American Express Vice President of Global Network and Partner Services Anurag Gupta said customers were increasingly seeking greater value from their everyday spending and travel-related expenses.
He said American Express was pleased to partner with City Bank to introduce the card in Bangladesh, combining its services and benefits to meet customers’ everyday, travel and lifestyle needs.
