DHAKA: Bangladesh received US$11.13 billion in workers’ remittances from July to October 27 in the current fiscal year (FY2026-27), marking a 13.3 per cent increase from US$9.83 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
The country received US$2.54 billion in remittances between October 1 and 27, up from US$2.24 billion during the same period a year earlier, also registering year-on-year growth of 13.3 per cent, according to the latest data.
Bangladesh received US$91 million in remittances on October 27 alone.
The continued growth in remittance inflows is providing support to the country’s foreign exchange reserves and helping meet external payment obligations amid ongoing economic challenges.
Remittances sent by millions of Bangladeshis working abroad are a major source of foreign exchange for the country. The inflows also support household consumption, education, healthcare and investment, while contributing to rural economic activity.
The latest figures indicate that remittance inflows have maintained a positive growth trend in the opening months of FY27. However, the data provided does not specify the factors behind the increase or indicate whether the growth will continue throughout the fiscal year.
