The Bangladesh Bank will hold an auction of Tk 25 billion worth of 10-year Bangladesh Government Treasury Bonds (reissue) on Tuesday, as part of the government’s efforts to raise long-term funds for budget financing.

The central bank announced the auction in a press release issued by its Department of Communications and Publications on Sunday.

According to the release, the auction will reissue a 10-year treasury bond with a remaining maturity of 9.33 years. The bond was originally issued on November 19, 2025, and will mature on November 19, 2035.

The bond carries a 10.39 percent annual coupon rate and has the ISIN No BD 0935191108.

The Bangladesh Bank said the reissue will be conducted through a price-based auction. Banks appointed as Primary Dealers (PDs) of government securities will be eligible to participate directly, while other banks and financial institutions may submit bids on behalf of individual and institutional investors through the designated primary dealers.

Participants will be required to submit bids specifying both the proposed purchase price per Tk 100 face value and the quantity they intend to purchase. Bids must be submitted electronically through the Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) system between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on July 21.

However, in exceptional circumstances and with prior approval from the relevant department, bids may also be submitted in sealed envelopes under the existing procedure.

The central bank said detailed auction guidelines have already been circulated among primary dealer banks and other concerned financial institutions.

The government regularly auctions treasury bills and treasury bonds to finance the budget deficit and mobilise long-term funds from domestic sources. Reissuing existing bonds also increases the outstanding volume of those securities, helping improve liquidity and trading activity in the secondary market.
