Mobile financial services provider bKash has won two honours at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026, earning recognition for its contributions to sustainable finance and community development in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The company was named the winner in both the ‘Most Sustainable Financial Institution of the Year in MFS’ and ‘SDG Brand Champion in Sustainable Community’ categories at the fourth edition of the awards, organised by the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at a hotel in the capital, recognising organisations that have made notable contributions to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through innovation, responsible business practices and community engagement.
Ishtiaque Shahriar, Head of Digital Assets and Communications at bKash, received the awards on behalf of the company.
bKash secured the Most Sustainable Financial Institution of the Year in MFS award for integrating sustainability into its business strategy, operational practices and stakeholder engagement, while promoting greater financial inclusion through digital financial services.
The company was also honoured as SDG Brand Champion in Sustainable Community for its initiative to bring digital financial services to Mowals (traditional honey collectors) in the Sundarbans.
The initiative enables honey collectors to receive and make digital payments, reducing the risks associated with carrying cash through remote waterways and helping protect them from exploitation by intermediaries.
A documentary titled “Sahosei bKash”, which highlights the challenges faced by the Mowals and the positive impact of digital financial services on their livelihoods, also contributed to the company’s recognition in the sustainable community category.
The awards underscore bKash’s continued efforts to leverage financial technology to promote inclusive economic growth, improve financial security and support sustainable community development across Bangladesh.
