Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue across Bangladesh over the next three days as active monsoon conditions prevail, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The BMD said the active monsoon will bring widespread rainfall, accompanied at times by gusty winds, across much of the country.

The weather pattern is likely to persist beyond the three-day forecast period, with rainfall expected to continue in many areas.

The department has advised people, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during heavy rain and thunderstorms.

According to the 120-hour weather bulletin issued by the BMD, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely across much of the country, with moderately heavy rainfall expected in several areas.

On August 1, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, while Rajshahi and Khulna divisions may receive rainfall at a few places. Moderately heavy rainfall is likely in parts of the country.

Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

On August 2, rainfall activity is expected to continue. Many areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, while Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions may receive showers at a few places. Isolated areas may witness moderately heavy rainfall.
