Activists of Islami Jubo Andolan Bangladesh (IJAB) blocked the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Narayanganj’s Bandar on Friday morning to protest the killing of one of the organisation’s leaders.
The protesters blocked the highway in the Madanpur area, disrupting traffic and causing several kilometres of congestion on both sides of the road.
The blockade continued for nearly two hours before the protesters left the highway.
Shamim Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station, told the media that the protesters withdrew the blockade around 11:00am, after which traffic movement resumed.
