Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks on two US military bases in Jordan.
The IRGC said the attacks targeted the King Hussein and Al Azraq bases in response to recent US strikes on Iranian military positions on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
Jordan’s military, however, said its air-defence systems intercepted eight missiles that entered the kingdom’s airspace.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The latest exchange marks a sharp escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington following the US strikes on Iran.
