Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Israel, with U.S. support, destroyed Iran’s army, navy, air force and nuclear facilities, and significantly weakened Hezbollah.
Netanyahu also praised U.S. President Donald Trump for his partnership with Israel during the conflict with Iran.
Speaking ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu said a “battle for truth” was being fought in the media, particularly on social media. He accused several foreign countries, including Qatar and Turkey, of spending large sums of money to spread what he described as false information about Israel.
Netanyahu said destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities was extremely difficult but described the decision as one of the easiest he had made as prime minister. “If I had not done it, we would all have died,” he said.
Referring to representatives of several countries who walked out of the UN General Assembly before or during his speech, Netanyahu said it was “extreme hypocrisy” to criticize Israel while, in his view, Israel was protecting both itself and those countries.
He also claimed that several foreign leaders had privately thanked him for Israel’s actions against Iran’s nuclear programme.
