Flight operations at Jeddah airport have been suspended on security grounds amid repeated attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, disrupting Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Dhaka-bound flight and leaving passengers stranded.
Biman’s country manager at Jeddah airport confirmed the situation on Sunday (October 11), saying the flight could not depart due to security concerns.
“ We cannot operate flights for security reasons. As a result, passengers on the Dhaka-bound flight are stranded. Boarding has not yet begun due to the situation,” he said.
He added that flight operations remained uncertain until security conditions at the airport returned to normal, increasing difficulties for passengers travelling to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said five flights had been cancelled from Saturday to Sunday morning following Houthi attacks. The cancellations involved Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, Saudia and Riyadh Air.
