Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is reportedly moving between heavily guarded palaces equipped with bunkers amid escalating Houthi attacks and growing security concerns in the kingdom.
The 41-year-old crown prince has not appeared in public since Tuesday, when he participated in a national blood donation campaign, according to media reports citing officials familiar with his movements.
The reports said he was being moved between fortified royal residences under the protection of a specially selected security team.
The heightened security measures come after repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.
A strike on Saturday reportedly killed 13 people and injured at least 300, making it one of the deadliest attacks on Saudi soil in recent years.
Saudi Arabia is also facing concerns over its stock of interceptor missiles as it seeks to protect major infrastructure, including airports, oil facilities and royal residences.
The escalating conflict poses a challenge to the kingdom’s security and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ambitious plans to transform Saudi Arabia into a global hub for tourism, investment and business.
Saudi authorities have not publicly confirmed the reported details of the crown prince’s movements.
