A total of 103 direct and transit flights from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been disrupted, affecting 15,779 passengers following missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group in Riyadh and restrictions on flight operations at Saudi airports.

Of the affected flights, 42 were direct services to Saudi Arabia and 61 were transit flights, according to available information.

Among direct flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines had 17 disrupted services, US-Bangla Airlines 10, Saudia eight and Riyadh Airways seven.

Transit services affected included 22 flights operated by IndiGo, 14 by Emirates, eight by Qatar Airways, seven by SalamAir, six by flydubai, three by Air India and one by EgyptAir.

Amid the disruptions, two Bangladeshi airlines have announced temporary changes to their schedules.

State-owned Biman Bangladesh Airlines has suspended all flights from Dhaka to Riyadh and Dammam until October 17. Private carrier US-Bangla Airlines has cancelled all flights on the Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka route until October 21.

The sudden cancellations and suspensions have created uncertainty for passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Passengers have been advised to contact their respective airlines to confirm the latest status of their flights until operations return to normal.
