Police have arrested gold trader Pintu Das, who had been in hiding with his family, from Patiya in Chattogram.
He was arrested around 5am on Friday (August 28) during an operation led by Sub-Inspector Kalam of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station. His wife Rimi and two sons were with him at the time.
Police said Pintu had gone into hiding after being reported missing. Acting on a tip-off, they traced his location and conducted a raid in Patiya.
SI Kalam confirmed the arrest, saying the operation was carried out over two days. According to police, Pintu had gone into hiding with his family mainly due to pressure from creditors.
He is being brought back to Chandpur, while further investigation is underway.
